Ezekiel Isbell is a visual artist working primarily within the field of fine art photography through digital and analog processes. His work consistently explores themes related to isolation, contradiction, and exploration.
He was raised and lives in the Southwestern United States. A few limited examples of consequential experiences in his life that impact his views and work include road trips across the landscapes of California and Arizona, and his long and arduous relationship with our broken/dysfunctional healthcare system along with the impact of the inherent paradoxical experience of existing in a society concerned with production and profit over health.
Recurring motifs and themes in his work include: the influence of technology on the human condition, counterculture and its evolution over the last 75 years of American history, retro-futurism and the legacy of vintage design and advertising, and inequality/ socio-economic justice.
His work has been selected multiple times to juried art exhibitions at Pasadena City College. He also has considerable darkroom knowledge and experience including developing, processing, and printing through analog methods. He also possesses significant knowledge about scanning and digitizing physical media, digital photography, and inkjet printing; together with extensive technical understanding related to operation of contemporary digital cameras, vintage analog cameras, and post processing software.
